I sent in an online application and was contacted a day later to set-up an in person interview. At the interview I was greeted, interviewed and generally felt comfortable in the Chewy environment. I took the grammar test and supplied a sample of my writing and was told that I would be contacted by the interviewer the next day.
When I came home from the interview I had received an email from Chewy requesting to run a background check (which is run through a third party office). I gave all of the information they asked for and submitted my background check. (ALL OF THIS HAPPENED ON A THURSDAY).
The next day (Friday) I didn't receive any notification from the interviewer. I know that the hiring process can be a bit lengthy but if you say you're going to contact someone you should at least follow-through on that.
It took 10 days for my background check to go through after which time I was told by the interviewer (who responded to my emails) that I had gotten the job and that she was waiting on HR to send an offer letter. She then asked my when I'd like to start working...Sounds like I was hired right? WRONG. I was told on a Wednesday that I "got the job," and was asked when I'd like to start working. I responded pretty immediately to that email, as I was very excited about this position at Chewy.
Two days later I received an email from Chewy HR stating that they were NOT going to extend an offer and they were pursuing other candidates.
It is extremely frustrating to wait almost two weeks to find out if you were hired and even more frustrating to be told that you're hired only to be passed up and left with a very sterile, albeit courteous, email from HR.
I had read reviews on Glassdoor which stated similar experiences but I thought maybe it was just a bad (1 time) experience...NOT THE CASE.
