Applied to Chipotle online, not even a minute later, was given an email for an interview date three days after that message. Never ate at a Chipotle, but it's a very popular restaurant so I was excited to get this email.
When I arrived, because the store was not yet open, (my interview was the same time as opening hour) I was told I wasn't allowed to come inside and had to wait ten minutes until the doors were unlocked. Very unprofessional and rude, and it was a cold overcast day too.
The doors were soon unlocked and I talked to an employee who told me to sit in the seating area just as if I was a customer. So I sat and waited and waited. This was very hectic and stressful as a rush of customers barged into the restaurant and it was crowded and loud and I felt forgotten.
About ten or so minutes later, a female employee who I'm assuming is a manager came up to me and didn't even apologize or anything and just told me that they were waiting for two more applicants and if they didn't show up, they would reschedule. I may be wrong, but I think all Chipotle's in California do group interviews as a first interview. This is just something I noticed on this site.
Thankfully a couple minutes later, another girl showed up, LATE! The third person never came.
The restaurant is still packed with customers, and it was l loud and I couldn't even hear myself think. The same manager came back and briefly described what a model Chipotle employee is and what she expects and general company guidelines. Never introduced herself, and she seemed kinda strict. I also noticed her unprofessional attire. She was wearing a gangster style hoodie with torn faded jeans and open toed flats. This is a manager dressed like that. That speaks volumes of the company.
At some point, I presented her my resume which she then skimmed at then handed back to me and said "This is nice, it's okay I don't need to keep it." Then she asked the two of us very basic customer service questions. The other girl even though she came late, gave really good answers and seemed very bubbly like I was. This lasted like five minutes.
At the end, she explained to both of us that she just hired a bunch of people and that she can't offer us a position but to apply again in three months as there might be a turnover of workers. I feel like this was a lie as she seemed kinda uninterested in the both of us probably due to racial reasons and she saw my resume and got intimidated.
So why even offer interviews if there are no openings? I was scared to go in for an interview at this company based on past reviews and I see this isn't a coincidence. I never ever want to go to a Chipotle again, this is not how you operate things and I don't know what other people see in Chipotle but as of right now, I won't set foot in one ever.
