      Host/Hostess Interview

      7 Apr 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Thousand Oaks, CA
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Cho Cho San (Thousand Oaks, CA) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Applied on a Sunday, was contacted maybe two hours later. Scheduled first interview for Wed. This interview was the question interview. The next interview was the following Sat. was more of a "this is what you will be doing" interview. The second interview is what I will be talking about. When I first walked in, the hostess, for whatever reason, seemed somewhat off-put that I was trying to get a job there. She said that since I'm in high school I would surely be hired, and also mentioned that she was leaving in two weeks; she looked exhausted. I asked if there was a reason for why she was leaving, and all she said was "You'll find out when you start working here". If that's not off-putting, I'm not sure what is. Fast forward to the interview... This was a different manager than I had for the first interview. So at this point I had now met two out of the four managers. Key moments: -"you are the captain of the ship, and if the captain messes up, then the ship sinks, and we [the company] suffer". -Became noticeably giddy when I told him that I am 18, so I don't have restrictions on the number of hours I can work. - Expected me to start on the following Monday, two days later. -never gave me a schedule for that week, I needed to go out and buy a whole uniform, and become a certified food handler in one day. -Fridays and Saturdays almost a guarantee that you won't be off before 12am. - Was unorganized to say the least and the hours would not allow for me to maintain my grades or any type of relationships with those most important to me. $12/hr
