      Content Specialist Interview

      4 Jan 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Playa Vista, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ChowNow (Playa Vista, CA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

The interview process was pretty lengthy. I first spoke to a recruiter by phone, who asked me some preliminary questions before having me speak with the growth marketing manager. Once they determined they wanted to move forward, I started receiving emails from another recruiter to go through next steps. I was asked to do a case study (writing assignment), and then finally got asked to visit their office for an on-site interview. The second recruiter was very nice when I arrived and showed me around before having me sit in a room to begin the interviews. In total, I spoke to six different people, two at a time. It was a bit intimidating, to be honest. Although I was initially told the process was very conversational, it didn't feel that way sometimes with the way the questions were asked. Everyone read off a list of prepared interview questions, and I felt like they couldn't get a real feel for who I was that way. After the three rounds of interviews were over, the first recruiter came in to speak to me a final time. When the process was completed, I was pretty exhausted. A few days later, the first recruiter notified me they were moving forward with other candidates, I emailed him back to say thank you and to ask for some feedback. I would have liked to know what I could have done better, but I haven't heard back. I appreciate their interest in finding just the right person to join their team, but found the process to be very overwhelming and linear.

Thank you for providing feedback about your interview experience. We have a challenging and intentional process to ensure candidates skills are vetted properly for the scope of the position. The assignment gives you insight into the work you will be doing in your role, and provides you a direct line to the hiring manager to ask questions as you work through the exercise. We provide interview questions to interviewers to ensure they are well-prepared to get to know you and your strengths as a candidate. Having prepared questions also allows us to keep our process organized and avoid overlapping questions by different interviewers to ensure a smooth and positive experience for the candidate and the team. We do paired interviews to allow candidates the opportunity to meet people from across the organization vs just a few from the direct team they would potentially work with. We believe it’s important for you to get a transparent look into our culture and how we collaborate cross-functionally. I understand this can be intimidating, but rest assured our team truly wants to get to know the candidate, and learn about how they would impact the organization. Our team truly appreciates you taking the time to provide your insights about our process and I will share this feedback with our team to ensure we are addressing your concerns. Best of luck in your job search!
