      Sales Representative Interview

      10 Jun 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Oklahoma City, OK
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Cintas (Oklahoma City, OK) in May 2018

      Interview

I got an e-mail through LinkedIn from the incoming Facilities Market Sales Manager saying they're trying to hire new reps and my experience is what they were looking for. I took a couple of hours to do some research about the company and replied that I was interested so we scheduled an initial phone interview for a couple of days later. When the day and time came -- no phone call. I waited for over an hour before e-mailing to ask if I had it wrong. He replied that he got tied up and scheduled it for later that afternoon. The phone call went really well so we scheduled a face-to-face interview. What was supposed to be a 30-45 minute interview became almost an hour and a half because we hit it off so well. He said that he thinks I would be great for the position, but there were a number of steps in the interview process: 1. Phone Interview 2. Face to face interview (w/ Market Sales Manager) 3. Shadow with a current Sales Rep for a full day 4. Phone interview with Recruiting Department 5. Face to face interview with Director of Sales 6. Face to face interview with General Manager of Oklahoma City location At the time I thought it sounded ridiculously convoluted, but whatever. At the end of the face to face he scheduled for me to come in and shadow with one of their reps for the following week. He asked for me to go online and officially apply for the position online before my shadow appointment -- which I did. I applied on Friday and over the weekend, I got a rejection e-mail, which was weird, but I figured it was a mistake. I asked the Sales Manager about it and he said to ignore it. Shadow interview went really well and when I got back to the office, he asked me what I thought -- told him that I thought it was great and he told me that he needs to schedule my face to face meeting with the Director of Sales. He said I might have to fly to Houston, but he needed to see when the DOS would be available. I didn't hear anything for over a week, then I get a text on Monday night asking if I could drive to Tulsa (120 miles away) tomorrow for a 12:30 meeting -- told him sure. He then sends me several texts telling me that I should wear a neutral color shirt and tie (duh), that I needed to remember to bring a pen (duh), and that I needed to bring some paper to write on (duh). I can already tell that I need to be on my toes for this interview -- Next day I drive 90 minutes to Tulsa, walk in for the introduction and start in with the interview. He tells me it should last 30-40 minutes, he was going to ask me a series of questions, then I could ask questions. Basically all I did was read him my resume -- no questions to elaborate on, no scenarios to walk through. He tells me he appreciates me coming up and says that they need to schedule my interview with the new General Manager coming in to take over Oklahoma City. So basically I drove 3 hours round trip to read someone my resume -- neat. On my drive back I send the guy a, "It was great meeting you/Here's why I think I'm great for the job" e-mail. No response. I call him the next day and leave a voicemail to get an estimate of when I could expect to schedule the GM interview. No response. I text the original Market SM to ask him if he might know -- no response. I drop by their office, gatekeeper says he will call me in an hour -- no response. I text him at the end of the day, he replies to say the DOS will talk to the Recruiting person and they would contact me to schedule the interview. Five days goes by -- nothing. Finally I send an e-mail addressed to both the DOS and the MSM saying, "please tell me what's going on so I can either move on or plan for the interview with the GM". 7 hours later I get a single sentence e-mail reply, "We have decided to consider other applicants". Absolutely pathetic and completely unprofessional. In my opinion, having to meet with 65 people to basically sell toilet paper (their description, not mine) is absolutely ridiculous. But, ironically I have an interview scheduled next week with one of their biggest competitors, which I HOPE to get an offer!

      Interview

I had an interview scheduled after a recruiter reached out to me. I scheduled the interview and let them know I was looking to relocate. The recruiter didn’t read that part I guess and when I got on the interview I let her know again, she said she doesn’t oversee that region so she will forward my info to that region. My interview was at 3pm, I assumed the other recruiter would email me to set up a time, he called around 4:30 but I was working so I couldn’t pick up. No voicemail, no email, just never heard back.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cintas in Apr 2026

      Interview

Was headhunted via LinkedIn, went very far into long interview process, then was rejected due to incomplete post-secondary, which they would have known before they headhunted me. Lack of organization and filtering through recruitment, however, fantastically structured company, lots of opportunity for hungry reps.
