Pros: The recruiter was nice, and I now have a comprehensive, first hand understanding of their entire organizational chart.
Cons: The interview process is an endurance sport. I applied for a Customer Success Manager role and went through seven separate rounds. I interviewed with a recruiter, the Director of CSM, a Sales Engineer, the Sales team, a full panel (complete with a presentation I spent hours on), and the hiring manager.
It is clearly a culture of extreme "decision by committee." If a company requires total consensus from seven different layers of the organization just to hire one CSM, I think it’s safe to say that the concept of Agile has officially left the building. I didn't reach a potential round eight or nine but in my mind I was foreseeing a couple of rounds with the janitorial staff and/or the CEO, just to ensure true corporate alignment. Communication after the final marathon was incredibly sluggish. If you have a few months of your life to trade for a "thanks but no thanks" email from a committee, this is the place for you.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Gosh, where to start, there were so many.
They asked me how I would sell their product, several concepts related to their DB and things like that
The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Cockroach Labs in Apr 2026
Interview
Call with recruiter, call with hiring manager, call with one person on the team that is hiring, a call with another person but from an adjacent team, last a technical presentation with a tenured senior member of the hiring team. Supposedly interviews went well, but hiring manager changed the level of the role and thus is rethinking about the role. Scheduling was a mess with the supposed new system the HR team is using.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Cockroach Labs in Aug 2025
Interview
Main interview is three interviews, one hour each. Honestly very clear and concise process just have to be prepared for each and have a very strong WHY. Be prepared to talk about your experience and how it would correlate to the role. Everyone I met with was super conversational and well informed
