I applied online. I interviewed at Committee for Children in Jul 2020
Interview
The interviews with the team were overall positive. Standard initial screening call, one call with the manager of the team, and then a group interview with the broader team. Each step in the interview experience was positive, and I was able to learn a lot about the company. The recruiter was fantastic about checking in after each interview.
The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Committee for Children in Jul 2024
Interview
There were 4 interviews for an entry-level position, which felt like way too many. At first, I was told there would only be 3 interviews: a 30-min phone screen, a 45-min 1:1 interview, and a 60-min panel interview. Communication throughout the interview process was good, but the interviews themselves did not leave a good impression of the organization. The interviewer doing my 1:1 interview kept interrupting me and seemed very skeptical of my skills despite not giving me enough time to explain and demonstrate my experience. The people in the panel interview seemed depressed and not excited to be a part of this organization. After the panel interview, I was informed that there was yet another interview with a more senior member of the organization. This individual was quite helpful in answering all my questions, but her answers revealed that I had been lied to throughout the entire interview process. The role was advertised as remote with the possibility of needing to come in once a month, but the last interviewer told me that people were basically expected to come in "as needed" which ended up being several times a month and defeats the point of a remote role. The scope of my position was also untrue. In my 2nd interview, I was told I would be working on projects for a community I have expertise in, but in my 4th interview, I was told this was not at all the case and that it would be a completely different community that I not only don't have experience in, but I explicitly did not want to work in. The whole process was exhausting because of all the misleading information.
