I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in Jul 2015
Interview
Def one of the better HR/Recruiting experience I've had!.
The process included three phone screens and an on-site, the entire process was very transparent and very responsive.
The first phone screen was essentially a prescreening on what you're looking for, what experience you'd like to have, why Compass and the "Tell me about yourself".
The second phone screen followed a similar structure, this time the interviewer wanted to learn more about one of the projects from my previous role.
The third phone screen focused on metrics and my approach to measurements and testing.
All interviewers took the time to tell me about Compass, their challenges and what working at Compass is like.
The onsite was a full day where it felt like I've spoken to almost everyone in the company :) including the COO and the CTO(&CPO). The questions were mostly behavioural and discussions about real scenarios/challenges they are facing at Compass.
The conversations felt very well-balanced, I had the chance to ask and learn more and I felt like everyone would have been a great colleague.
I left the office thinking it would be a great place to work and felt like I knew everything I wanted to know.
They proceeded with an offer few days later and made sure I have all the information I need to make a decision. I've had several follow-up questions and the recruiting manager and CTO were happy to jump on a call and talk in person.
Other companies should learn from Compass's recruiting department and I hope Compass will keep up the good work.

Question 1
Q: Walk me through a challenging product decision you had to make in your previous role
It was fine but long and no communication between departments so all together fine. Easy and the people were very nice. Would recommend to someone else! Yay I don’t know what else to say for 30 words
Recruiter reached out and set up an initial phone screen followed by 7 hours of virtual on-site with design, engineering and someone from the product team . none of the questions related to product and were haphazard behavioural questions .Anyways endured through them only to be eventually be reached out by recruiter saying that you could not score well on The PM part of the interview . Total waste of time and extremely Unsure interviewers .

Question 1
Behavioural questions about some irrelevant scenarios
-- phone screen with recruiter
-- phone screen with a potential future teammate
-- in-person interview: 5 rounds, ~45-60min each with various members of the team as well as additional stakeholders
Because I was on a tight timeline (other offers), the team got back to me with a decision very quickly. What I appreciated most about this process was that I had ample time to speak with various people at the company to make my decision -- this is atypical in my experience. Most places create some false deadline and pretense, and this was not the case at Compass at all. I was very impressed by this and the interview experience overall.
