The interview itself was alright. It went through smoothly and a verbal offer was made within 7-10 days. It's what followed that's made me post this.
1. From the offing, something seemed very off. There was a delay in sharing the offer letter - I followed up numerous times about it and was met with radio silence.
2. When offer letter was finally shared, they forgot to add a key clause, which I had to remind them to do so and put everything into writing. I was sent a Word Document for an offer letter - first time ever!
3. The verification check took a while to initiate. And when it began, it got stuck at the education verification, with the company claiming that the agency couldn't get in touch with my university. A simple lookup online would help them understand whom they needed to direct their query to - I found the answer in 3 minutes (I timed this!)
Additionally, education verification at my university is a paid service. It's not something you can send an email or call for and get a response - there are protocols and procedures in place.
Despite all this, I was keen to work here, following up over and over again about the next steps in the process.
The person I was liaising with truly has no sense of both ethics and professionalism. Their responses are one-liners that read right off a customer service rep's script - AI is more empathetic in their approach.
When I declined the offer this week after over a month of dealing with this frivolous behaviour, their response lacked accountability and remorse. I was very emphatic about my experiences in the refusal as well, giving context to my argument. They, however, were less than bothered and all too happy for me turn down the offer. It makes me wonder whether they dragged the process out on purpose so I'd get frustrated and turn the role down.
Since the role has opened up again on Glassdoor, I'd strongly recommend caution. Your experience may not be the same as mine, but if there are hang ups anywhere in the interim, steer clear of the company. There's no merit in having your mental and emotional health disturbed because of unprofessional people at this company.
