      Account Manager Interview

      16 Jun 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mumbai
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Condé Nast (Mumbai)

      Interview

I cannot stress enough about how atrocious it was. The HR who interviewed had zero knowledge about the role or profile, was EXTREMELY judgmental and had an attitude of she's doing candidates a favour. She turned up 10 mins late and no courtesy of even an apology. She told me I should wear a morning coat or blazer though I was dressed in a formal shirt for a video interview, asked me inappropriate and personal questions like details about my marriage, whether I owned a house or rented...it was disgusting! I don't care how fabulous the role could be, if that's the kind of people you'll be working with...that too in HR, I'd rather not. They have no sense of timelines or etiquette, got back to me after a few days wanting me to move to the next round of interview with the India head for the function which I declined.

      Question 1

Tell me about your childhood? Tell me about your husband and how you met? Who are you closest to in your family? Do you live in a rented accommodation or do you own the house you live in?

      Interview

The recruiting process at Conde Nast was horrible from the start. I worked with a recruiter that was probably the most unreliable person in the world. She made excuses for missing calls constantly, was unresponsive to emails, and just a mess in general. I finally scheduled my first initial phone screen with my recruiter after about 3 weeks of back and forth emailing. She missed the the phone screen and then said she was sick and probably made up some other excuse, so we had to reschedule the call. After finally hopping on the phone with the recruiter, I was able to chat with the her, but it was a very very unpleasant experience. The recruiter I spoke to didn't even book a room to have this call. I could hear her colleagues laughing and joking around the whole time during our phone screen, which was very disrespectful (BTW my recruiter joined in on some of their conversation too). I felt that this was very unprofessional and amateur of her. Once we finished the 20-30 minute interview, she advised me that I would be moving on to the onsite interview. The onsite interview was generally pretty easy and the most pleasant part of the interview process. They had me meet with 3 people. An Account Manager, Account Director, and a VP of Revenue. The interviews were all very conversational and great. I enjoyed it and thought it went well. About a week after the onsite I reached out to my recruiter just for a follow up. She emailed me back out scheduling a time to chat. Surprise she missed our call and then sent me a rejection email. Yes, it was a bummer not to get the role, but I am truly hoping that Conde Nast has better recruiters than the one I had to deal with because she was a very poor representation of the recruiting team.
