Initially there was a call with a tech recruiter who talked about the position and discussed about the next steps in detail. The next round was a coding challenge where the tech recruiter did not give much insight into what specifically to focus on. The coding round was weird. An interviewer is supposed to test your skills and not treat a candidate as a lesser being.
He gave a code snippet that did not compile with the coding platform. I had to fix the errors and bugs in his snippet before debugging my code. Additionally, the interviewer indicated that he did not have experience in C++ when the complete code was written in C++. I found that odd.
When I was trying to give the reasoning for certain conditions within the code, he was sort of dictating a solution rather than suggesting one. He was being extra assertive like a headmaster in a school and not at all professional. I am deeply disappointed in selecting such an interviewer for my interview process.
I really hope Confluent manages to get more reasonable interviewers for the future recruitment processes else, you might lose out on future talents.
