I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Bridgewater, NJ) in Mar 2020
Interview
I was called for interview and thought that it was for the position I applied for. I arrived 10 min ahead of time. Was asked to wait in the break room where employees were enjoying free food. The manager came for a break too, but did not acknowledge me. The manager arrived again 20 minutes past the appointed time and took me to the interview room. I was asked why I wanted work for Costco and if I had retail experience. Then she dropped a bombshell. The manager said the next question is to assess my availability for work. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, they need to keep the store sanitized and if I was available for that job which included wiping down carts, Plexiglas shields at the registers and restrooms, etc. Basically I was lured into the store and offered the job of a janitor. I declined and left. I think that Costco - at least this manager - is disingenuous in the interview process. I should not have been lured into wasting my time for a position that I did not apply for and was overqualified. Even if I accepted out of desperation, I would not have continued until I found a slightly better job elsewhere. The management is stupid if they believe in such techniques to recruit the needed janitors.

My Costco interview began with a phone screening, followed by an in-person meeting. They asked about teamwork, customer service, and availability, then explained expectations before moving forward with hiring. Streamlined, organized, and easy.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale in Jan 2024
Interview
Referrals and hiring within are big factors on wether you get interviews or not. If you are a strong candidate there will be multiple rounds of interview, no more than 3 and lots of scenario based questions.
