Phone interview was engaging, the in person interview was disappointing. The day started out alright with me being welcomed in by an HR rep and shown their facilities. However things quickly went into a downward spiral. My first interviewer got angry when I did not suggest the answer they wanted for a broad question, I asked more questions to help narrow down what was being looked for and was met with stiff resistance.
I was given a brief respite during lunch. I was able to see their dining facilities and enjoy the meal (best part of the day). Immediately after lunch I thought that the day was turning around, my new interviewer was interested and engaged. We worked through several SQL problems on the whiteboard. However the entire process fell into nosedive when I met the hiring manager. This person had not read my resume and asked me to briefly explain my background and experience. Within a minute of my explanation their eyes began to droop, and by two minutes they were fast asleep. I made a loud noise to get their attention then struggled through the rest of the interview.
Overall it was a demeaning experience. The facilities are quite nice, but I felt like I wasted a day and was not treated with respect by several members of the team.
