I applied through other source. I interviewed at County of Monterey in Dec 2025
Interview
I was selected for an interview from their pre-existing applicant pool (i.e., did not apply for this specific position) and was invited to a 20-minute, 5-person panel "final selection round" interview. When this was complete, I did not receive any feedback or follow-up for over a month. I forgot about this job and moved along in my search. I was then suddenly invited to an informal "chat" with a skip level manager and the hiring manager was supposed to also be on the call, but missed it. I then quickly received a verbal and written conditional offer a day later. After that, I received multiple phone calls per day and throughout the week (about 4 total) from the hiring manager (whom I did not establish any relationship with or know anything about). The unscheduled phone calls felt pressured and made me uncomfortable. The process felt overall disorganized, with somewhat unfriendly energy and confusion about who was who. The actual job description/activities and who the manager was were not made clear to me until after I received the offer and was being pressured to accept it.
