      IT Project Manager Interview

      4 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Glendale, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Crossover for Work (Glendale, CA)

      Interview

I applied online. The process is done via eventbrite. You enter a "tournament" (this is a gimmick for mass online recruiting. Where you are one of hundred candidates around the world linked into a one-way Zoom conference call. They give a quick brief of what the process is and that they are screening for the "1%" to make it to the next level. In all there are 6 steps before you are hired. 1) Create a basic profile of yourself (you will add up doing this twice (once for Eventbrite and then again on the Crossover site (these will be the exact same steps and info requested on Everbrite), 2) technical screen which will consists of 10 questions. If you are PMP certified and Certified Scrum Master this will be easy as they are very basic questions. If you pass this technical screening you make to written evaluation. 3) Written evaluation is made of 8 tasks which is massive and at this point you beginning to wonder if this is really worth it. They will describe scenarios and give assignments which will require proprietary technology like Smartsheet (so if you don't have access or cannot get a trial access...well...you are scr#wed). I have listed the 8 questions below. 4) Meet your advocate. You talk to someone who decides if you should go to the "marketplace" or not. 5) You are placed on the Marketplace for 45 days and if no one (employers which will be Crossover's clients looking for an IT Project Manager) decides to select you, you are rejected. 6) If a hiring manager does like what they see you go through the whole hiring process for that employer again...This begs the question, if there is a slight to no chance that you will be selected while in the "Marketplace" and even when you do get selected and have to go through the hiring process again why spend 10 hours on a "tournament" (massive online recruiting)? Once I saw the written evaluation, I declined to continue the process realizing the man hours invented in the screening process is not worth it. I prefer to spend 6 hours with a 10-individual panel getting tested and cross examined (which I have done) because the 10 individuals are all so invented in the hiring process because they are spending their with you testing you. Crossover prefers to have one person spend 1 hour on Zoom (video conference where the audio and video feed is only one-way) explaining everything and then there will be 75 candidates spending 10 man hours hoping to be the next "1%"...yeah, thanks but no.

      Interview

You apply online and then they ask you a bunch of questions, you answer them and depending on if they liked your answers, they either reject your application or allow you to be in the marketplace. From the market place, it doesn’t mean the hiring manager sees your resume. You’re just in their stupid market place. It’s a waste of time. Don’t bother. They have no jobs available. There is no job security or benefits
