I had applied online for a position and heard back within a couple of days from HR requesting an interview. In the past I'd applied to similar roles to never hear back. I wrote back with my availability and got radio silence for a week. Eventually, I took the steps to follow up to see if they were still interested and a date/time was finally set. The phone interview itself was great, casual but professional. I was asked to provide some extra work samples, and the recruiter said he'd follow up with me in a week. I never heard back from them again.
Some things that were weird to me. They told me that if I were to move forward, there would be another phone call with the creative manager then they'd bring me onsite for a 4hr interview with multiple people. This was for a contract position (with potential to go full-time). That's an awful lot of time to spend interviewing for a contract position (imho).
Secondly, despite my attempts to follow up with HR, I never heard a peep back. No, "Sorry, but we moved forward with more qualified candidates." Nothing. I was pretty peeved about the lack of professionalism, especially given that the HR person straight up told me HE'D FOLLOW UP.
