The recruiter was laid off during the course of my interview process. Because of this, the communication broke down, and there were long delays in between steps. The steps of the interview were modified, there was originally going to be a mock presentation, then that was changed to a more in-depth conversation with the hiring manager, only for the hiring manager to request a presentation to be put together and emailed the next day. The comp also crucially was changed to be in a range of $10,000-$20,000 less than what I was discussing in previous rounds with the recruiter. Ultimately the lay off was then the reason for them to not move forward with hiring.
