I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DS-IQ (Bellevue, WA) in Dec 2014
Interview
First a phone interview with the VP of HR and then they flew me in for a day of interviews with other team members. They also asked me to deliver a group presentation of prior work examples. I declined the offer as they low balled me on salary, relocation, and tried to give me a lesser title. They were unwilling to negotiate and they wasted my time.

Question 1
Fairly standard: tell us about your background, what you're looking to do next, technical experience, etc.

Interview
This is a small company, but the interview process was very professional and better run than some Fortune 50 companies. I had a phone conversation with the VP of HR as the first round followed up by 2 more in-person rounds with 3 interviewers each time, another phone conversation with an off-site senior executive and a final in-person meeting with the executives before the offer was made.
This is fairly typical of my experience in recruiting for similar positions, although if the company flies you out they try to do all in-person interviews on one day. I did appreciate meeting so many people during the interview process as it gave me a better sense of the company and the people and I liked what I heard.
I met with people from business development, marketing/analytics, technical research and was impressed by their intelligence and passion for their role.
The interview questions centered around various aspects of my retail experience, and I had to give several examples. I really enjoyed the interview process as it gave me a chance to find out more about the company and their direction and determine my fit with the culture.
Interestingly, I had submitted my resume for another role but was asked to interview for a new role given my retail background.
There was also a background check by an agency and a follow up with my referrals. The VP of HR spoke to my referrals personally.

Question 1
The interviewers wanted to determine my fit in working for a small company with a start-up culture as my previous background had been working for very large companies. I appreciated these questions, as it's important to determine fit.
