It took several tries to schedule the recruiter interview, but once it took place it was a productive conversation. I wish I could say the same for the hiring manager. That person liked playing their cards close to the vest, had some outright silly things to say (e.g., "we're a 5000-person startup). They told me at the end of the interview I could expect to hear by the end of the week for next steps. Less than 30 minutes later I got a rejection notice, which I found confusing, unprofessional, and insincere. If you're not interested in further talks with a candidate, you can just say thank you, but I'm looking for something else. It's a waste of my time and energy to raise my hopes in conversation and then click a No button five minutes later. I expected more from this company in its hiring process and was very much disappointed.
