I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at David's Bridal (Akron, OH) in Mar 2009
Interview
I was initially given phone interviews and then the DM does an interview 1:1. If the DM approves you are given another phone interview with the Regional V.P. Be prepared to answer how you have solved associate/ customer problems in the past as well as your management style. You will need to give specific examples of what you did in certain circumstances. Be very prepared and thoughtful! Thank before speaking! Never say anything bad about another company or supervisor even if it is justified or you felt you were mis-treated. You need to show you are a team player that will follow corporate mandates to the letter! They only want experienced managers---if you do not have a solid specialty retail management background with commission sales associate experience this isn't the company for you!

They lead you to believe you are being interviewed for an open position. You are actually being put on a "bench" to wait until a position opens up due to high turnover

Why do you think you can handle the bridal business?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at David's Bridal
Interview
online application and then called by the DSM. One on one interview with the DSM went well. He was very professional and thorough. He emailed and even texted me constantly throughout the process to keep me updated.
Next interview over the phone with a recruiter, which I thought was an odd second step. She was very funny and also asked good questions.
Third interview over the phone with regional manager. She was more direct and the interview was more focused on feeling me out. Shorter than the other ones.
The regional wanted me to phone interview a current SM in the company so I could feel out the position to make sure it would be a good fit.
Overall the process was shockingly and perhaps unnecessarily extended. 4 different kinds of interviews to be an Assistant Manager. Regardless, everyone was great and very pleasant and the entire process took less than a week. I ultimately decided on a different job based on my location but this was a positive experience overall.
