Talked to HR personnel, and then talked to two managers. Managers gave a high level overview of the nature of the position. First manager seemed about director level, second manager seemed more senior scientist level.

Standard interviews with hiring manager, dept leadership, peers. Not stressful but plenty of questions designed to test knowledge of important details. Throughout the process, everyone was friendly and professional, and staff were responsive to my questions in a timely manner and also very transparent about what would happen next (like background check, etc).
