Applied online, no HR call, did first round through zoom directly. The interview went smoothly, a couple of questions related to my experience, projects, why moving back to China from the US, and an easy-medium coding question. And then chat about the job duties and current stage in the Beijing office. Although the position is for web-development, I didn't get any web-development related question. And no questions related to the position description.
Didn't hear anything back after almost two weeks so I asked hr directly for feedback. Interestingly enough, according to HR's response, the feedback from the interviewer is on the negative side and says that I'm not suitable for the position because they required a high standard coding ability for a "senior position" (senior pos, really? 2yr?). I was like wth? First of all, it's not a senior position, and no one even cared abt anything related to web development. And through the talk, I don't think the interviewer knows much about this field, and instead, he just asked questions as if he's hiring a new grad.
I was also doing interviews with a couple of other big companies with harder questions at around the same time, and felt this one is relatively easy, so the feedback feels really offensive and wired to me.
