Interview
Initial Interviews: The initial contact interview went smoothly, but communication then ceased for several weeks. This unexpected silence caused me to lose hope in my candidacy.
Hiring Manager Interview: Out of the blue, I was asked for another video interview with the hiring manager. This interview was engaging and reignited my interest in the position. I was informed that the next step would be an interview with the CEO, followed by a final discussion with HR before a potential offer.
HR Interview & Offer: Later that evening, I received an unscheduled call from HR at 9:30 PM. The conversation was challenging due to a language barrier, which made it difficult to effectively communicate my responses. The following morning, I received an informal offer via email that lacked critical information necessary for a well-informed decision.
Lack of Clarity: Over the next two weeks, email exchanges with HR failed to provide answers to simple questions like the targets for earning incentive compensation. The benefits package also seemed less competitive compared to others in the market, with no willingness to negotiate. I never did get a chance to talk to the CEO.
Concerns & Declining the Offer: The lack of clear communication and HR's unresponsiveness, combined with a lackluster benefits package and concerns about import restrictions from China, ultimately led me to decline the offer. While Dobot acknowledged the concern about import restrictions, they failed to offer a strategy or plan to address it.
Overall: The interview process with Dobot had promising moments, but was marred by poor communication, lack of transparency, and a seemingly indifferent attitude towards addressing legitimate concerns. The language barrier during the HR interview and the subsequent lack of clarity regarding the offer were major contributing factors in my decision to decline.
I hope this review is helpful for anyone considering a position at Dobot.
