I had in total 3 interviews, one intro, one technical, and a follow up to go over my take home technical interview. The take home challenge was not too difficult, but consumed a vast amount of time. Essentially building from scratch a similar page to a docmorris layout. The interviewer said it should take half a day, but it certainly took at least 3. I shared the challenge with many other developers i knew, and they all thought half a day was absolutely ridiculous to complete the challenge. Anyways I completed the challenge and had a follow up interview with the tech lead, who spend 5 minutes with me going over a couple of mistakes he found in the code. One of the "mistakes" he pointed out were not in fact a mistake, which I think he did not take kindly to, when I pointed out the code in fact was correct. He hardly asked any questions about my process and the interview was finished almost before it began. Shortly after I got the letter that I was not chosen. I asked the interviewer for feedback to understand what I could improve upon or what he was looking for that I didn't provide in the coding challenge, and never received an answer. After having candidates spend lots of their time doing a bogus coding challenge, the least one could do is provide feedback and honest critiques. Ultimately I'm glad I didn't get the job, as I would have been working with this person, and I feel like he showed his true colors in the interview process.
