Take-home tech questions were far too open-ended and could have required a vast effort to complete. These should have been narrowed down, or phrased to clarify that the act of goal selection and time management was part of the expectation. There was a great deal of uncertainty around how much time and effort would be sufficient. I think I spent maybe 5 hours or a bit more, which is a fair bit over the 2-3 hours I would usually allow.
In-person tech interview was a good experience, individual team members were polite and engaging and gave me a positive outlook on joining the company. I expected more opportunities to go in-depth to some coding aspects but otherwise appreciated the high-level whiteboarding tasks and felt it was a good match for my background.
In-person CEO interview was a very bad experience and left me quite shaken up. He made like an amateur psychologist and persisted in asking intrusive personal questions with a probing and condescending demeanour. I've purged most of this in a 'forget and move on' approach but some of them are noted or paraphrased below.
I was rejected on the basis of 'culture fit'.
