Interview
I interviewed for an Account Exec role. The whole process took nearly 2 months (7 weeks). 6 total interviews. 3 with peers across multiple departments, the last 3 were with a Sales Manager, then the Sales Manager along with Director of Customer Success (presentation and mock sales call) and one final interview with Director of Sales. The whole process was long and there was little communication throughout. I had to actually find out there was going to be no offer made by reaching out to the recruiter myself after not hearing any communication for almost 3 weeks.
My criticism isn't on the result, more on how long the process took (6 interviews over 4.5 weeks plus an additional 3 weeks before there were any results given) and they made it seem like everything was going extremely well, the recruiter and sales manager were eluding to an offer soon. I was very excited to work with them and the conversations flowed great. The final interview threw me off a bit. The person came off annoyed, very critical and challenged a couple things I said that were actually communicated to me by Dutchie in the first few interviews. My assumption is that everything got thrown off because the sales manager left the company shortly after my final interview. He either left or was let go towards the end of the whole process hence the 3 weeks of silence. I sent him a thank you email (and multiple to follow) and they all bounced back as an invalid email address, so that tipped me off. I'm sure that didn't help as he was involved with much of the process.
I've waited a little over 2 months to post this review as I didn't want to jump the gun on my speculation, but at this point it seems to be spot on. The role posting has been since removed immediately after receiving the news that Dutchie is "going in a different direction." There has been no one hired to the best of my knowledge. My guess is they fired the sales manager and decided to either offer the role to someone internally or hold off on hiring for the role. The entire interview process was a waste of time. Tens of hours were spent on calls, outside time developing a mock disco and presentation only for Dutchie to pull the posting and not hire anyone. If they were honest and told me they were pulling the posting or offering it to someone internally early on, or during the process I wouldn't be exactly happy but commend them for their honesty and keep the relationship for a future opportunity. Instead it was 2 months of interviews across multiple verticals, presentation and final interview with director of sales only for them to lie to me that I wasn't a great fit. Just be honest and a little empathetic. Why burn the bridge here???
I'm usually not the one to run and write a review, especially when I was not given an offer. I know it seems like sour grapes, but my gripe was not with the results. It was more the time, communication and lack of compassion. They allowed me (and I'm sure other candidates) to interview for a role that didn't exist. And go the distance nonetheless. I guess it's a blessing in disguise. Working for a company like Dutchie, in retrospect seems like it would be a nightmare. Thumbs down on Dutchie and its leadership.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Dutchie (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2023
Interview
Far too many interviews for a job they recruited me for. Was asked to do a pitch multiple times during the process. Seemingly no continuity between managers. The last interviewer told me he didn't know why either of us was there because I was clearly qualified.

Interview
The initial recruiter was fine for the phone screen. The next step was with a sales manager and it was one of the most unprofessional, unprepared interviews I’ve ever experienced…
They clearly forgot that we even had an interview scheduled because i waited on Zoom for 20 minutes before reaching out to the recruiters I was dealing with to know what was going on and if we should reschedule.
They finally appear on their smartphone camera as they are putting on a hoodie like they just got out of bed and does not even acknowledge being late and asks me to tell them a little bit about myself.
I get called out for not having any cannabis industry experience even though I never claimed I had any experience within the cannabis industry and I’m told that I need to study up for the next step because I will be tested on the industry knowledge that I don’t have, without being given any recommendations on resources to bridge the gap leading up to the next interview.
I asked what specific qualities they were looking for and they unironically stressed the importance of being on time for meetings. (They were 20 minutes late for our interview)
I tried to get some clarity from the recruiter after the interview while giving some feedback about my experience and, unsurprisingly, they chose to discontinue the interview process shortly thereafter.
