I applied online. I interviewed at E.ON in Nov 2014
Interview
1) Online application form with SJT.
2) Online tests: standard stuff; do lots of practice online.
3) Phone interview: competency based; research the competencies, predict their questions, have concise examples demonstrating achievement organised in STAR format.
4) Assessment Centre:
-Presentation introducing self + interview: competency based + test of company/sector knowledge and motivations
-Role play: mock meeting with a colleague in which you have to negotiate through an issue.
-Case study: presentation and discussion on a booklet of information outlining several issues and opportunities faced by a fictional company.
-Mini-case: 10 mins to discuss your thoughts related to a potential investment opportunity for the company based on 2-3 pages of very incomplete information.
You have prep time for all activities except the mini-case, which is a test of your ability to think on your feet.
E.ON seem to prefer contacting candidates by phone when inviting them to the next stage. There didn't seem to be a website I could log into to check my progress but I found the process to be efficient and quite fast. If you're interested in Finance positions, definitely apply early: these schemes closed earlier than many others for all the companies I applied to in Autumn 2014.
You go down to Nottingham the day before the Assessment Centre. They put you in a hotel a short walk from their office and send a graduate trainee to have dinner with you. Have some questions ready for them and spend the evening making friends with the other candidates.

Interview
The assessment centre was based in Nottingham. I arrived a day earlier and they provided a hotel for the candidates to stay in the night before. I had a meal with the other candidates and a member who was already on the graduate scheme.
The assessment centre ran from 8am - 4pm. It consisted of a business case study, a self presentation, a competency based interview, a role play and a mini case study.

Question 1
In terms of the competency based interview, one of the difficult questions they asked were about your knowledge on the energy markets and their trends in the future.
