Completely unprofessional. Interview was originally intended to last 4 hours (already obnoxiously long for a simple tutoring position) but went to almost 6-7 hours... on Valentine's day. The interviewer (owner of company) bragged on about how he "ruined" a former employee's life for going behind his back and teaching other students. Immediately a signal for me to walk out and not look back.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Elite Academy (Fullerton, CA) in May 2016
Interview
After the resume stage I was asked to come in for a test and interview. I took a practice SAT Reading section (I can't recall how much forewarning I was given, but I was confident enough in my abilities that I did not study) and finished it relatively quickly. It was not a perfect score, but it was close enough that I impressed the interviewer. They asked some questions about teaching and managing students, then we discussed salary. I seriously underestimated how much they were willing to pay someone who was close to completing their graduate degree in Writing; the interviewer was kind enough to counter-offer with their standard rate for folks like me, $25/hour.
