      Recruiter Interview

      20 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Frankfurt am Main
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Emma (Frankfurt am Main) in Oct 2023

      Interview

I applied online via their career's website and they got back to me after 2 weeks or so saying they would like to take my candidature ahead. The recruitment process is divided into 3 parts- 1) Cognitive/Behavioural Assessment 2) Pre-Call (like an initial call) 3) Recruitment Day (1 hour of 3 interviews = 3 hours on this particular day + 45 mins of presentation) 1) For the Behavioural Assessment, they give you PI Test which is great tool for assessing candidates against the role they have open. If you pass this, you get to go ahead for the Pe-call which is for 30 mins. 2) Pre-Call is with 2 people, usually one from HR. My pre-call was not not difficult but the recruiter was in a hurry. She rushed through my answers, cut me in between my answers, interrupted me a minimum of thousand times. They want to come off as "intellectuals" but have no decency to maintain the decorum of a conversation. The most basic trait of a recruiter is to listen and she failed epicly at it. She mentioned I have gotten her attention by using "buzzwords" whereas I was only attempting to answer the questions asked (and yes I was interrupted here again whilst answering). The overall interview is not challening but to over question someone is a common trait amongst the hiring panel at Emma. 3) Recruitment Friday- I was asked to interview for their Recruitment Friday which is from 2 PM to 6 PM (yes 4 hours of mental torture). It begins with a company presentation which is absolutely boring and adds no value to the candidates who are applying. Depending on the role you've applied for you have 2/3 rounds of 1 hour interview each. Usually, if you go to the 3rd interview, it means you are almost a good fit and they could potentially offer you. The interviews here are cumbersome. One has to repeatedly introduce and keep giving innovative answers to engage the interviewers. They question you till you feel like praying to God and wanting the Earth to swallow you. This company is so hell bent on being different that regular process related answers are frowned upon since nothing is "innovative" or "genius". The interviews keep happening one after the other and it doesnt become challenging as one progresses, it just gets tiring, cumbersome and a big headache. One is repeatedly asked to think outside the box for most common of the questions asked. A simple, straight answer and everyday work expereince is looked down upon and you are referred to as "bookish" or not "street smart". I would highly advice every single person reading this to not waste their precious time in applying and interviewing for Emma. I dont tend to write bad reviews for anything online but my experience with Emma was absolutely pathethic that it provoked and motivated me to write a review. After attaininig success at all rounds, the company rejected me for being "pragmatic" (yes I often thought that being pragmatic is a sought after skill but then here I am rejected for being pragmatic) The interviewer in the feedback call mentioned they were looking for "anti-pragmatic" folks. Which is something absurb to put it politely. Moral of the story: Save yourself, run away, dont waste your time! There are a million better companies who can give you better pay, better candidate experience and dont look down on your simplicity and pragmatic approach.

      Application

I interviewed at Emma (Lisbon, Lisbon District)

      Interview

No response, no rejection after passing the whole process! Very negative impression on the company. Long interview process with very detailed interviews that last more than one hour. In the end completely ghosted without any feedback or even a rejection. One interview with People operations person was extremely uncomfortable, I believe that this person needs more training on how to conduct interviews.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Mostly hypothetical scenarios- in the later stages of the interviews. What would you do if confronted with this situation?
