Empower Group appears to be hiring regularly for their sales role, not a good sign, I think, but I was in the market and decided to go ahead and apply. I was contacted right away and opted in to their earliest interview slot. Upon my arrival, no one in management was available, including the person who scheduled the interview. I was asked by one of the staff to wait in lounge area. I had a chance to observe their morning meeting, which I liked a lot. After almost an hour later, one of the managers greeted me and started the interview. To make a long story short, the two individuals who interviewed me were unprepared. They both read my resume for a long period of time before engaging with me. The 2nd interviewer went on a tangent on how the vibe is informal. Some examples he used was that yelling and verbal outbursts amongst his staff are common… “you know, like Wall Street.” He asked me if I was okay with this. I kindly agreed. I was offered the job shortly after, within the week. I declined….I must say, this was probably the worst interview I experienced. Too bad managers fail to consider how valuable time is.
