The internal recruiter reached out based on my experience and stating that I looked to be a great fit for what they are looking for. I scheduled the initial call and went through my process of doing my initial due diligence to prepare for the conversation. Once the recruiter joined the conversation, we exchanged pleasantries, then she asked, are you actively looking or casually looking to which I responded I am actively looking due to a large company layoff that I was, unfortunately, a part of. She then wrapped up the conversation, saying they are only talking to candidates who are actively employed and won't consider anyone who is unemployed. I understand that they are the company hiring and they get to write the rules, but honestly, not even an interview.
Do your research, and I would highly recommend looking at their culture page where they interviewed the CEO; it's not a great look. As distasteful as this interview was, I truly feel I dodged a bullet.
