First there was a phone interview where a recruiter asked very basic interview questions and answered questions about the company. This was followed by an interview over Zoom with an area manager who asked very similar questions and who was much more interested in seeing how devoted to hustle culture and competing with your coworkers you are. During this process the recruiter and the area manager gave very different answers about work life balance (which I asked about after reading some bad reviews wondering if anything had improved). The recruiter promised that employees would know their schedule weeks in advance and wouldn't be scheduled for more than 42 hours per week, though they would have the option to work more and be paid overtime if they chose. The area manager made it clear that while overtime was optional, it was expected that employees work closer to 50 hours per week and be willing to come in at the drop of a hat. To me it seemed like a red flag and I didn't continue to the third round of interviews.
