      Personal Trainer Interview

      15 Oct 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Roslyn, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Equinox (Roslyn, NY) in Jul 2015

      Interview

This was a 3 part interview process. First, HR on the phone. Once Human Resources gives your information to management then you get a call from the Personal training manager. The PT manager asks a few questions about why you're interested in the position and then schedules you for an in person interview. Your usual interview questions are answered. At the end he gave me a case study using FMS scores and asked me to give an example of what I'd do with this client based on her goals and FMS scores. Once approved then I went on to the group interview with 5 other candidates. This interview includes a social assessment to gauge how well you listen and respond. Then a quick (and not very thorough) squat assessment. Finally programming in groups on a case study. They split us up into two groups of three and asked us to program based on a 4 week cycle starting in weeks 3 and 4. I found it challenging to program in a group especially with two people who don't have very much experience programming. I think my frustration showed and is probably one of the reasons I didn't get the job.

      Interview

Virtual and in-person interviews; virtual interview was not too bad it was a recorded interview with situational questions and multiple choice while the in-person interview was mostly a vibe check and seeing how you would take on new clients.

      Interview

I had a very positive phone interview experience with Equinox. The interviewer was professional, welcoming, and respectful of my time. They asked clear, thoughtful questions about my background and gave a great overview of the role, team expectations, and the company culture. The conversation felt organized and informative, and I appreciated how transparent they were about next steps in the process. Overall, it was a smooth and pleasant interview experience that reflected well on the company.

      Interview

Super easy, had a round with a recruiter and then met with the manager. They were very transparent about pay and work required. I see a lot of negative reviews about pay, but at least from my experience the whole pay scale was clearly communicated and lined out.
