Started from a career fair at my university. Secured an on campus interview which was 2 days after the career fair. That interview was behavioral, very laid back with two Exxon reps. Be prepared with your STAR answers format. A few weeks later I got a call from the Beaumont facility to schedule an on-site interview. They paid for the gas and hotel stay. The onsite went well, very nice people overall and nice facility with a decent gym within the building. Interview consisted of a behavioral part followed by a technical part. Again, prepare with several STAR answers. Technical part consisted of a control valve quiz “tell me what you know about control valves” and several critical thinking/open ended questions regarding instrumentation/controls. Familiarize yourself with transmitters, digital vs analog signal inputs vs outputs from the DCS. After the interview we did the site tour and went to lunch. Positive experience overall, but do your research on Exxon, they are a very competitive company.
