I DO NOT RECOMMEND FDM UNLESS IT IS YOUR ONLY OPTION
The recruitment process was not difficult. Here are the stages below.
1. Apply online: if you have above a 2:2 you will most likely get a telephone screening interview which is stage 2
2. Telephone screening: This call is to understand your motivations for the specific role and other HR questions.
3. Online Assessments: If you have done psychometric online tests this should be very straightforward. Unlike most companies, the number of questions is significantly more! Practice similar questions in pattern recognition, numerical reasoning verbal reasoning etc., to ensure you are well prepared.
4. Virtual Assessment Centre: An opportunity to meet fellow applicants with 3 15min interviews with different FDM employees in break-out rooms. Very much so your standard competency interview.
5. If you are successful you will receive the employment offer.
Unfortunately, Grad Cracker and other job websites advertise a higher starting salary post-training. Please expect the salary to be no more than £25k. The salary progression within those two years will be sluggish and there is a lot of uncertainty about where you will be placed after your training. Honestly, a very unfortunate contract and you should consider other companies like Kubrick before committing. Lastly, with the amount of learning material on the internet, you can do this training at home with self-discipline with no extra cost or contractual binding.
If FDM is your only option, be prepared to commit for two years at a relatively low salary. I hope FDM re-thinks the benefits to graduates to help them with the cost of living and well-being.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Competency Questions about FDM's desired qualities and values. The Interview is Strenght based, slightly different to a traditional interview but very much assessing the same skills.
They are looking for the following qualities in your past experiences and future motivations especially. Traditionally you'd be asked to talk about a time when you worked under pressure for instance. However it's more about what you would do in a new/theoretical situation. You need to think about what you have done to date and how that relates to FDM values below to be fully prepared.
- Driven Performer
- Logical Resolver
- Opportunity Seeker
- Resilient Achiever
- Adaptable Delivery
- Relationship Builder
- Curious Learner
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FDM Group (Hong Kong) in Jun 2023
Interview
Multi-stage interview process. Online numerical and logical reasoning assessment, a remote video interview, and an in-person assessment in their offices. A recruitment mentor is assigned to assist you throughout the interview and application process.
First stage after sending them your CV is a casual chat with a recruiter with the company. Second stage is a online video interview, then a maths/english test and then one final face to face interview

Strength-based phone interviews and online assessments, you get paired with a recruitment official to help with your interview process, ends with 3 (15min ) interviews with different interviewers. Fairly straightforward I think.
