      Store Manager Interview

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Family Video

      Interview

The hiring processes is three steps. First you do an initial interview, most likely with the store manager. During this interview, you will be asked eight general questions from what they like to call the stacking method: tell me about your first job, tell me about your family, tell me about your education, tell me about your hobbies and interests, what has been your greatest achievement, where do you see yourself in five years and who has been your greatest mentor. You should be asked some variance of these questions. If the store manager likes you, you will be scheduled to take an test that is broken up into eight sections. The toughest sections are the math, but they are only about 5-10% of the total grade. It's a cumulative score, so I always recommended that if you feel time is running out, start to make educated guesses. You need to score at least a 63%, lowered from a 70% because the company president felt that the school systems have lowered since the inception of the test. Once you past the test, the final interview is with the District Manager. He/she will ask the same questions from the stacking method, but will go much more into detail. Although they are supposed to tell you right away, you most likely won't hear an answer for a few days on whether you are hired or not. At any point. if you hear the phrase, "I have a few more interviews scheduled and will be making my decisions on who to call back by six, so if I wanted to take you to the next step, you'll hear something by six." you have not passed the interview and will NOT be called back. Family Video likes to go through the hiring process relatively quickly, so if they want to move on with you, you will find out during the interview.

      Question 1

None of the questions are very difficult. The main thing they look for is outgoingness and a great personalty. Can you bring customers back to the store and can you attract new talent.

Went through two interview, one with the district manager and one with the regional manager. Happened quickly, but had to drive an hour away for second interview, which was a lot to ask of someone with no guarantee of hiring.
