      Senior Product Owner Interview

      27 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FanDuel in Dec 2021

      Interview

I applied on their 'Careers' page in early December and had an interview set up within a week. The first discussion went very well with questions about my current position, experience, and any other relevant details about the Sr. Product Owner position. Nothing out of the ordinary for a screening call. Later in the day, I received an invitation to set up a time to talk to another interviewer. This was set up during the week of Christmas. Once again, I perceived the conversation to go well with us running over the allotted time ensuring I had all my questions answered. Up until this point, all the interactions with the FanDuel colleagues were great. Prompt responses, wonderful conversations, etc. Given the interviews were taking place around the holidays, I was patient with following up as most companies have skeleton crews around this time. The first week of January, I reached out to the first interviewer I spoke with to understand what the next steps might be and if there were any questions I could clear up for them. He responded quickly letting me know he would follow up with the second interviewer and to 'stay tuned'. After that, I never heard back. Once again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt as it was a couple of days after the New Year. Then, about a week later, I followed up again. No answer. Now, we are coming up to a month after the second interview and almost a full month since any correspondence. I want to note that I only had the email of the first interviewer (screening call) to reach out to. After this experience, I am honestly baffled. If I was not a good fit for the role, let me know. This is not my first interview and as a professional, I understand business decisions need to be made. However, I do not find it acceptable to leave a candidate in the dark. I was beyond excited to potentially work for a growing company, leveraging the latest technologies, in an industry I enjoy. Bu,t after this experience, my desire has waned. In the future, with other candidates, I hope the wrinkles can be ironed out to give candidates a great experience. Based on the first half of the process, I know it is possible.
