      Interview

interviewed by engineering manager, didn't seem too into the interview the whole time, and didn't give me a set input for the data which confused me. I offered an incorrect BFS approach and solved and he didn't mention that this was not correct, a critical path approach was needed.

      Question 1

in swift, given there's a list of tasks with their effort (in days) [("painting", 5), ("drywall", 2) ...] and a list of dependencies that show pairs of task, task1 relies on task2 so [ ("painting", "drywall"), ("drywall", "hvac"), ("drywall", "plumbing") ] means painting relies on drywall, and drywall relies on hvac, plumbing etc. give the earliest amount of time for a given task.

      The process took 4 weeks.

      Interview

I was reached out to on LinkedIn and did a phone interview with a technical recruiter. After that there was an hour long live coding challenge similar to leet code. Felt pretty good about the process up until this point. Completed take home assessment and then 3 hour “on site”. The 3 hour on site was a bit overwhelming for me. It included what was essentially 3 different interviews and I had to take off work to complete these. Waste of my time when I clearly didn’t do something right and didn’t receive an offer. Would be better if they just separated these into 3 separate interviews so later portions can get canceled and I don’t have to take time off my current job to apply for a job I’m not going to get. The technical deep dive was confusing for me. They didn’t give too much guidance on what they wanted me to say so I feel like that’s where I went wrong. The system design question was for one user which really through me off as well since I had prepped for more standard questions. They declined my offer just by saying the position was already filled which felt impersonal considering I had spent 10+ hours of my time interviewing and preparing for this process. That said the overall feel of the company seemed really great; I just wish the process was easier for someone already working a full time job.
