I was brought in for an engineering interview via a recruiting agency.
First interviews were with engineering management and the VP of Engineering. They were standard, and went pretty well. Talked about the role. What I could learn. What I could bring to the table.
Then there was an interview with HR.
That's where I learned how crass and unprofessional this house was likely to be. The HR rep told me that she was going to throw my resume in the trash, because I didn't have specific experience with certain plastics. But the recruiter pushed them to bring me in anyway.
One of those moments where you want the job so you just nervous laugh with them.
It was a perfect example of HR just not knowing anything about the roles they hire for. Because none of those experience concerns seemed an issue with the actual department managers.
