FA has its own 3-4 floor campus in Indira Nagar Bangalore, but if you are an interviewee you cannot park your car there. Maximum 3-4 cars is the space they have for visitors. You have to reach very well before time because you are expected to park your car in a nearby metro station public parking and walk all the way back to FA office.
My discussion was scheduled for the position of Scrum/Delivery manager. To my dismay… I observed 2 candidates been interviewed only for 10-15 min which was very unusual for this kind of significant designation. Out of curiosity I asked one of the candidates and got to know that was the first round and Interviewer asked a couple of basic questions.
I was too not an exception, I was told about the role and was asked about my past experience. All done within little less than 15 min.
I was waiting in anticipation of next round but was told by HR that I am not suitable for the position of delivery manager and instead they can offer me designation of scrum master.
Well… the irony here is … I am working as a Delivery Manager since past 5 years and this lady with mystical powers just by having few minutes conversation concludes I am not the right fit for this position without even having a proper discussion of the topic and my other achievements.
Being on an interview panel for the last couple of years I could easily say that this lady was not properly trained on interview etiquettes. I and other candidates had a feeling that we were being interviewed for rejection and not for selection. A matured interviewer enables, motivates and encourages you to get best out of you, they empower candidates and allow them enough time to ensue flow of conversations.
An interview is a two-way street. You are talking with the candidate to see if he is the right match for your company and at the same time, he is also looking at you and deciding if you are right for him.
Please try to understand that a candidate puts in a lot of efforts before appearing for a discussion especially when it is on weekdays. This kind of worst experience is an insult to a candidate and of course for the company of repute like FA
