I recently interviewed for the Lead Enterprise Incident Management position at First Citizens Bank, and the overall experience was disappointing.
A significant portion of the discussion—nearly 90%—focused on my personal life, including questions around my marital status, rather than on my skills, experience, or ability to perform the role. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional, especially considering the seniority of the position.
The coordination from HR was also below expectations. I was asked to travel roughly 25 km each way for the interview, but communication was inconsistent. Multiple calls went unanswered, and although I was told I would receive a follow-up call the next day, it never came. Even after the in-person interview, there was no clear update or closure.
Overall, the process felt unclear, poorly managed, and at times intrusive. I would have expected a more structured, respectful, and professionally handled interview experience for such an important role
