      Client Service Associate Interview

      15 Mar 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Mateo, CA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Fisher Investments (San Mateo, CA) in Feb 2013

      Interview

My first impression was not a good one. I drove to the interview an hour early and parking was a task (very hard) at the San Mateo site. The large parking lot was full with some employees parked on the street. There were literally black and white regulatory signs in the parking lot that stated "No Fisher Parking". I mean wow! Another drawback- shifts just too long. They want you to work from 7AM until 5PM Monday through Friday. They offer a $50,000 salary per year for the Client Service Associate position.Work hours are unrealistic ( I have more than 5 years of finance experience and a bachelor's degree in finance) and it seems as though I am making less per hour than I require. They offer $50,000 for 9 hours of work (you are there for a total of 10 hours--you get a one hour lunch break). Let's do the math, since Fisher investments is hoping you won't or can't. 45 hours per week *52 weeks = 2,340 hours. $50,000 salary / 2,340 hours= an actual hourly rate of $21.36 (21.367). Don't let them trick you. Process pretty easy, one phone interview that was about 30 minutes and one in person interview with 3 people lasted about 2 hours. Know your resume without even looking and be prepared to be talkative about it, share experience. What's your weakness? No talk about finance, which should be the norm because half of them did not study finance. (Fisher investments welcomes all majors). Be prepared with at least 10-15 questions to ask the interviewer, they expect it. Also expect that with each separate interview you may end up repeating yourself. What it means is one interviewer may say "walk me through your resume" and so will the next interviewer that comes in. Irritating! Interviewed on a Monday, they gave me a job offer the same week on Friday. Think long and hard and ask yourself do I really want this position? Especially if you have babies, toddlers, or young children at home because there is no flex time. Good benefits, fully covered medical, no premiums out of your paycheck, but with the paid time off it is not a good balance. There is no sick time, etc. You only get your Paid time off.

      Question 1

No difficult questions asked-- just know your resume front and back since the majority of the time will be spent on it and asking questions about your work experience.

      Application

I interviewed at Fisher Investments (Camas, WA)

      Interview

Applied, within 24 hours got an offer to interview over the phone. Phone interview was positive and was told I’d be recommended for a video interview. 3 days later, got a boilerplate rejection email. The kind that says, “after careful consideration” you know the one. The one that feigns consideration as corporate insulation from the applicants. If you want to still apply for a company that says, verbatim per the email, “We understand you may want additional information about our decision. However, as a company policy, we do not provide feedback”, then you are entitled to your own pain and suffering.
