I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Flight 001 (New York, NY) in Jun 2016
Interview
I started with a phone interview then met with two people individually in the office - someone from HR and a co-founder. Both interviews were pretty informal, though I got a feeling that they didn't really know what they were looking for. I made it through the next round to a "Marketing Task" that consisted of 5 parts, which essentially summed up a marketing plan and budget. I found it to be beyond the normal scope of interview tasks and felt a little that the "Task" was being administered to collect free work. I was not made an offer and when I asked for feedback, since I dedicated a lot of time to the process, I was told someone more senior was hired. This was frustrating as the posting only required 2-3 years of experience and I have more than that. IF that's the real reason, they should modify their posts.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Flight 001 (New York, NY) in Nov 2011
Interview
Applied and immediately got an interview in Manhattan. Interview was fun, interest and relaxed. Met the employees after the interview and got a tour around the office. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and is located in a great area. Got hired in a few weeks later via email and the process was easy and straight forward.
I applied via Media Bistro on a Friday. I get a very enthusiastic and grammatically casual email from the co-founder within a couple of hours of me applying. He wants to meet up the next week, if I'm in New York. I'm unfortunately not in the city, and his tone of voice immediately changes. He is brisk and distant (the opposite of his initial email). After I persist a bit, he asks when I can move and says he needs to ask 'the office' and would get back to me when he knows. I make the point that I'm very much willing to relocate back to NYC (I was previously located there) and am flexible. He again assures me that he will consult 'the others' and let me know the next week.
On Monday, I get a notification on LinkedIn that he has checked out my LinkedIn page (and I wouldn't be surprised if he looked at my other social media handles). However, he still hasn't emailed me an update. I wait several more days and then email him quickly asking if he is still interested in talking, etc. I get an automated email that he's out of town on a trip and will be gone for a week, and will respond when he can/when he gets back. He's long back from the trip, and I have yet to receive any updates. The position hast yet to be filled (it's listed again on Media Bistro).
I had also contacted someone who presumably works at Flight 001 based on various accounts including the official website, but in actuality, she is not with the company. Hard to say who exactly works full time in the seemingly small team, and if they rely more on contractors and temp positions.
