I applied through other source. I interviewed at Florachem in Aug 2021
Interview
For this position I was contacted outright on LinkedIn for a panel interview by the head of this particular location in Lakeland, Fl. The interview was conducted on Microsoft teams and was scheduled for the following Monday. At the last minute it was canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday, which was an inconvenience. There was a large disregard for my time throughout this process. There was supposed to be five people in this interview but only 4 showed up and of the four one of them was late. Extremely unprofessional and distracting. During this interview everyone was texting and the person who contacted me for this role at one point spoke over me to tell the other interviewer to look at a group text they were apparently all on. I am relatively new to interviewing and was very nervous so none of this helped me in any way. I was unable to answer most of the questions they asked because I was getting interrupted and distracted. I completely understand that the nature of an interview is to get a better idea of what a candidate can offer but this group of people should not be interviewing people at all as I was not able to properly express my abilities as an engineer. They then began claiming I would be better as a lab tech and that they would be coming up with a job of that nature in the near future. I remained open-minded and accepted that possibility. I never received any information about this at all. I know I could have done so much better and with practice I will but these interviewers should have never offered me something else if they did not intend to see that through. Just simply reject who does not have what is wanted, offering false hope does nothing for either party. Ultimately, I am very happy I did not get this job given the disrespectful nature of this interview. I am very glad that I sat through this bad of an experience at the start of my job search because I now know what it is like to have disorganized and outright unprofessional interviewers. If a company or person looking at a resume requires someone with a certain level of experience for a position and the resume does not show that, do not waste the candidates or your company’s time. Best of luck to anyone who is looking to work at this particular place and apologies for the lengthy review, hope this helps.
