      Editor Interview

      7 Sept 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Berlin
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Fonpit AG (Berlin) in Aug 2017

      Interview

Very quick and efficient hiring process considering other experiences in Berlin. First a very basic phone interview with HR about my background and why I'm interested in the position, once this was evaluated I was invited to an in-person interview at the office right away. In-person interview with two would-be colleagues was fairly thorough - many questions were geared towards my particular experience and skill set. I had to complete an on-site editing/translating test afterwards. I assumed there might be some test, but it would have been useful to know this in advance as this was not communicated to me when the interview was scheduled.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Fonpit AG (Berlin) in Sept 2018

      Interview

I was contacted very quickly after submitting my application via email. The first step of the hiring process was a phone interview. The interviewer was polite and to the point and asked mostly general questions about my career goals and why I want to work at Fonpit. I was later asked to submit 2 sample articles - a review of my current phone and an opinion piece. Communication after that was a bit slow unfortunately, but this was due to the fact that it was summer and holiday season. The rest of hiring process involved 2 interviews with senior members of staff. The questions were compelling and well-thought-out. All members of staff were polite and professional.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fonpit AG (Berlin) in May 2018

      Interview

The first stage was a phone interview (20mins) with HR. It was friendly and chatty and set the tone for all future communication. I was then asked to write two articles, a review of my phone and an opinion piece - no deadline and flexible topics. The next stage was an interview with the Managing Editor and the Deputy Global Head of Content at the Berlin office. The interview part lasted around 1 hour, then I was asked to do a writing task and given 20-30mins. I did not know about the task beforehand. The final stage was a Skype chat with the CCO & Founder. Pros: Feedback was really fast after each stage, usually finding out the next day via a phone call. I'm always happy to be asked to write a lot as part of the interview process for content writing/editor jobs as it gives me the best chance to prove I can do the job. Cons: First Skype call was a no-show, but another call was arranged quickly and a reasonable excuse and apology were given.
