Fort Worth Country Day interview questions

I received an email from the hiring manager asking for my references before I had spoken to someone in person at all or interviewed. When I expressed that I prefer to wait to contact my references until after I've had an interview (after all it is a two way process), they said they did not want to move forward. I found this to be incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful to candidates time.
