I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fortis Games (Lisbon, Lisbon District) in Dec 2023
Interview
First I was contacted by the recruiter and we had a pleasant talk, and then a week later I had a 60min talk with members of a team I'd work with in case I get hired. Shortly after I was notified that the team loved my experience, so I received a very lengthy prompt that took me about one month to complete and submit my work.
It's been a month since Fortis Games recruiter received my email and I haven't heard from them since, even though I sent one more inquiry email about two weeks after submission just to check how long it usually takes for them to review applications.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
For a Senior Game Designer role, I had to answer three questions:
1. Deconstruct/Analyse the content flow for the core loop of a Mobile Top 50
grossing game, for at least its first 2-3 days of gameplay (non-payer behavior)
2. Provide a design proposal for “Family Island” (one of the current Top Grossing
Mobile Games) for a small Game Mode or Liveops Event that has enough
content for a non-payer Player to finish it in 3 days. The proposal should take no
more than 1 month to develop
3. Use the modules and content plan you designed at Question 2 to lay down the
full player experience throughout their progress in the Game Mode/Liveops Event for the 3 days duration
I interviewed at Fortis Games (São Paulo, São Paulo)
Interview
3 interviews and 1 prompt. First one with HR, second and third one after the prompt submission, Second one with management layer related to the project or your area, third one with management layer from other areas but from the same team.
It all took a while, like 3 months.

Question 1
Mostly questions about the F2P market or/and the prompt you submitted.
I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Fortis Games (Houston, TX) in Mar 2023
Interview
Applied end of January, 2023.
Had an interview mid-March where the interviewer stated I "might" have enough experience to fill a junior role at the company in spite of having 20+ years of experience up to Lead Design/Production.
Pressed on, assuming that might be a hiccup before speaking to people more familiar with Design roles.
Filled out (long) Design q&a.
Asked to attend second round of interviews with more design-focused staff. Signed NDA for end-April interview
They "didn't have enough people in that day" on the date/time of the second interview, but would reschedule.
Waited until mid May. Asked for any updated date/time. Was told it would be "moved along" soon.
Emailed for updates early June. Heard nothing else as of early July.
Honestly the most disrespectful, disorganized, time-wasting process I've ever been subjected to in 20+ years of development. Being "a new studio" can only excuse the level of apathy exhibited over this much time so much.

Question 1
"Tell us something we don't already know about game development."
