      The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Funding Circle (London, England)

      Interview

      The company is unstable in its processes and vision. Hiring suddenly goes to freeze and then reopens in a matter of days. They have many open roles but are unclear what they need in candidates. The first round of 1.5 hours where the first 30 mins focus on shallow discussion about your work. The remaining 1 hr is exclusively on your mental math skills. A case is presented which evaluates how quickly and accurately you perform calculations. The calculations/concept will become difficult as case progresses, but the person taking the interview, having run the same/similar case with different candidates, will show how easy and straightforward the calculations are. Their ego and self righteousness quickly starts to feel demeaning at one point. I don't mind the math but as the interview only briefly touches on tech skills, DSC project details or other relevant tasks, an accountant is in a much better position to clear the process focused exclusively on finding the math guy.

After reviewing this area of interviewing I can see that there has been some lag in feedback whilst ongoing decisions were being made internally.
