Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you did not feel the experience was a positive one. However, we do feel that we should clarify our hiring process a bit.
Our interview process is relatively extensive. It is important to us that we find candidates who understand that we are not just a typical accounting firm. We work with entrepreneurs, startups and venture backed companies, and we are looking for those unique candidates who possess not only the skills to be successful here, but an interest and passion for helping businesses succeed. The process does begin with an over the phone interview where we ask you to tell us about yourself, not what we can read on your resume, but who you are and what drives you. This helps us to get a sense of how you would fit into the organization culturally. Following the phone interview, we invite candidates to our office for multi-round interviews with many members of our team. Our team works closely and relies on each other to do the best job they can, so every single member of our team is involved in determining whether or not a candidate would be a quality addition. The final step in our process is to ask all candidates to complete a “homework assignment”, which is designed to give candidates a sense of the kind of work they would be expected to do, should they receive an offer, and allows us to determine whether or not they have the technical skills and drive we expect from all of our team members. That assignment is a key factor in our decision to make an offer to a candidate.
We would also like to clarify that at the time of this posting, we had not received any of the assignments from the August interview candidates, as we give approximately one week for completion. Under no circumstance do we ever extend an offer to a candidate prior to the successful completion of that assignment. We apologize if you misunderstood the process and assumed an offer, and we will strive to be more clear with future candidates. We wish you the best of luck in your job search.
