      Auto Damage Adjuster Trainee Interview

      26 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Alexandria, VA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Alexandria, VA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

This ended up being a much longer process than I anticipated. I applied online, then was sent a personality assessment a couple days later. I completed that and about week later they sent me a critical reading test and a spatial reasoning test. Both were timed and somewhat challenging, especially the latter. About a week after that, I received an email to set up a time for the phone interview. That took about 30 minutes and was pretty straightforward; the interviewer asked the regular questions (strengths/weaknesses, leadership examples, etc.) plus put forward some hypothetical situations mostly relating to time management. At the end of the interview he told me he was approving me for the next stage, an in-person interview of sorts. That took place 2 weeks later at a Geico Express in Alexandria, VA. They sat me in an office where I listened to a 30 minute recording of instructions for a simulation. I was expecting the material to be automotive-related, but instead I was to pretend to be an insurance adjust for a company that handles warranties on medical storage, generators, phone switchboards, and other apparently random equipment. They also provided me with a written copy of the instructions, charts, maps, pens, and paper. The simulation itself was very challenging. I had to react in real-time to "customers" and "repairmen" over the phone and in person, using the paperwork I had been given. The names, different companies, and the repairs were pretty confusing and I got flustered a few times. One of the men running the simulation also pretended to be a rude repairman to see how I would respond to antagonism under pressure. The entire thing took almost 2 hours, and I wasn't at all sure what my results would be. About a week later, they called me with some follow-up questions, my opinion on the simulation, and to offer me the job. Then came the background check, credit check, and hair follicle drug screen. That took about 3 weeks and I was getting nervous because I was running out of time to put in my 2 weeks notice before the training starts. Happily, everything has been cleared and I will start training next week.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Imagine that you need to respond to a shop's email regarding work being done on a vehicle, call a customer about the status of their car, and drive to a shop for an appointment. You only have 15 minutes, and the drive will take 12 minutes. You cannot use the phone while driving. How would you prioritize your time?

Good experience with this company and interview process. They asked questions pertaining to past job experience and questions regarding the job itself. The recruiter was nice and friendly, as well.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2025

      Interview

applied and was asked to do a assessment which was pretty straightforward. Then did a 20 min zoon interview with a recruiter. They explained a little about the job, salary, training and that I would be invited for a 2nd interview with the leadership team. A little strange interview also, they didn't really ask any questions about myself, just asked how many times I've shown up late for work in my past job and why I had a gap in my employment. A few days later I got a automated email that the job had been filled already. Seems just because you are told you made it to the 2nd and final round doesn't mean you will. They seem to hire first come first serve.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What do you know about the job? Why do you have a gap in your employment history? How many times have you been late to work in the past 5 years?

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO (Lincoln, NE) in Jul 2025

      Interview

I did a zoom interview, which wasn’t the issue. The issue was I felt like there were no questions asked linked directly to the job I was applying for. I’m use to more behavioral based questions and they asked a lot of random filler questions, had me guessing why are they even interviewing me??

      Question 1

Employment gap history… which I thought was illegal
